A Two-Year Report

Letter from the Superintendent

Dear Neighbors,

We believe in the Imperial Valley. Every day, Imperial Valley Regional Occupational Program creates paths to opportunities for people of all ages. Because when the people who live here have successful lives and careers, we knit together a community poised for growth and greatness.

We’re committed to this work because our residents need to believe they have a path for success. Too many of our community members lack exposure to lives that include higher education or careers, and they fall into familiar patterns of unemployment and instability. It’s not that they don’t have dreams. It’s that they don’t know those dreams even exist. We need to expose our neighbors to the options beyond what they currently know and ensure our youth are thinking proactively about their lives beyond high school if we want them to create a better life for themselves and a contribute to a stronger Imperial Valley.

While we are incredibly proud of the numbers we’re sharing with you in this report-the efficiencies of our financial model, the number of programs and participants, and the generous funding we receive. But the numbers can’t tell the whole story, so we also invite you to read about some of our program participants whose lives have been deeply impacted and who have gone on to strengthen our entire region.

If you have supported us with your time, resources, or partnership, we thank you. We look forward to working with you well into the future to empower youth and adults in our community to achieve success in their lives and careers.

Sincerely,

Edwin Obergfell
Superintendent, Imperial Valley Regional Occupational Program

Focus Areas

Employer Connections

When our community members are provided an education relevant to their chosen career path and the connections to find employment, they are more likely to be self-sufficient and financially stable. And our entire community benefits from that individual’s successful life and career.

Family Development & Stabilization

When parents are given the opportunity to acquire tools for effective parenting, we strengthen the bond between child and parent and reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect. As a result, families are kept intact, and children are more likely to grow up to be stable and successful in their lives.

Career Technical Education

When students are encouraged to think strategically about their lives and to immediately pursue their goals, they are better prepared to enter college or a career. Our local companies and industries benefit from a more prepared workforce.
